It’s been hot and I know my mom has said that about 1,000 times over the last month but now it’s my turn.  I grew up in Portland, Oregon where it is cool almost every day. The first night I jumped out of the car after panting through my first really humid night only to throw up three times, my mom knew something had to change… thankfully she got the point. We decided after going to Florida and then driving 14 straight hours back to Austin (I slept the entire time) that the best thing we could do is to just stay put for a month and wait out the hottest month at my mom’s friend’s house until we could continue.

Thank goodness!  I really love my mom’s friends.

I’m so happy about this and now most of my days are spent laying on the cool, hardwood floor in an air conditioned kitchen, taking walks with my new friend Baxter or avoiding eye contact with cat that also lives here. I figure if I can’t see him then he surely can’t see me sneaking past him. I actually don’t mind him around (don’t tell) because the food they give to cat is pretty delicious and although my mom yells at me, I still like to steal a few bites at least once a day. We still go on adventures too, usually we go down to the lake where other dogs are running wild and swimming and we do the same.

I miss the traveling, I miss having mom to myself and most of all I miss swimming in new places and chasing weird new friends around. But I don’t miss being hot all day and night, so for now, my mom and I will be in Austin, enjoying every minute of air conditioning we can and mapping out where we will head to next! Mom says we are heading northeast, where should we go?
