My name is Franklin and I am a 5 year old Golden Retriever. I know what you are thinking… why would a Golden Retriever be named Franklin? But, you know what? My middle name is Waffles… so figure that one out! Yep, my human, I call her Mom, just really likes giving “old man” names to animals and at the time she got me, loved waffles too… so she put them together and bam! My name is Franklin Waffles but you can call me F-Dub. Our story began when I got to be her’s forever in June of 2010.

I think I can speak for both of us in saying we were a match made in heaven.  I love to sleep, she loves to sleep; I love to eat, she loves to eat; I love to jump in mud puddles, she loves to jump in mud puddles. Sometimes we see who can make the biggest splash and for a few hours after she always tells me I stink which I’m pretty sure is a term of endearment.

We have been through a lot together. She scratches my belly every night and I lay my head on her knee whenever she seems sad. I sometimes think I really hit the jackpot with her especially on those days when she yells, “It’s adventure time!” On those days, we jump in the car and she drives… sometimes for a long time and sometimes for a short time. She is usually singing at the top of her lungs with the windows down regardless of the temperature.  Most of the time I don’t mind, I mean it’s a fair swap to be her audience for awhile in return for some wild and free outdoor time.  On these adventures we see lakes, rivers, snow, mountains, oceans, and grassy hills. It really is my favorite time and when I look back at her smiling as big as I am, I know it is her favorite time too.

Because we find ourselves happiest out in the woods, we decided to take a grand adventure.  I don’t really know what we are doing but she keeps telling me that it’s getting closer and closer. I’m pretty sure we will be gone awhile and I’m also pretty sure we will be sleeping in the car. Both of which are fine by me!  We will be writing here for fun and to share our excitement.
